I know you hear me talk a lot about gratitude and a grateful mindset. There’s a reason this approach is so important and why I talk about it so much! This key path was a game-changer for me when I was going through my divorce. It helped me to retrain my brain to look for the positive instead of the negative. With lots of practice, I was able to create a positive mindset in myself, which helped me to move forward and ultimately live my best life.
Why Gratitude Works
Our brain is like a muscle and we must train it to see the good in every situation or challenge. Negativity is a strong emotion and we need to make ourselves stronger in order to let it go. The more positivity we create inside ourselves, the more quickly we can move on from negativity.
It does not mean that everything will always be perfect. But we can choose to see those difficult moments as a lesson and learn from it. If we can become grateful for the lessons, we can learn to overcome and not see obstacles but instead see challenges that become opportunities.
Let Go of the Negatives
As you live intently in gratitude, it does not mean that you will not have challenges or low times in your life. It does, however, mean that you will not stay in those tough moments. You will choose to focus on the good and positive in your life. As you practice gratitude, it gets easier to do and you can let go of the negatives faster! I promise!!
From Negative to Positive
I have shared my stories of what brought me to my lowest point in life and all my challenges and struggles to show you that you can still achieve anything you set your mind to! It is never easy to share the low points in your life and I have emotionally struggled with sharing some of the details that I have been very private about for most of my life.
I am telling you that without those low moments, you will not be able to appreciate what you have overcome or be able to experience the highest of highs. Listen, I’ve been there. I lived it. Now when I look back, I can see I overcame my tough experiences and grew from them! It’s how I know you can, too.
Choose a Grateful Mindset
A grateful mindset allows us to focus more on the victories, the lessons, and the good things in our lives. If you can train your brain, you will find more happiness, joy, and peace. I did and I know you can too.
If you want an easy way to get started practicing gratitude, I always recommend my Gratitude Journal. It has plenty of daily prompts, weekly reflections, and plenty of inspiration. All you have to do is grab a pen and write.
Keep in mind gratitude is a practice and it will change over time for you. It did for me! I’d love to hear about how your practice evolves. Send me a message at michelle@michellesukow.com and let’s talk gratitude!
