I get asked all the time: “How do you accomplish everything you need to do in one day?” The truth is, sometimes I don’t. It may look like I accomplish a great deal of tasks every single day, but I’m human just like everybody else. The days still feel short, my list of tasks is still long, and I still get stressed out!
When I started my personal brand, my main goal was to help people change their lives for the better. I wanted to accomplish this by telling my story, sharing techniques that worked for me, and leading by example. This is the Michelle you see and the Michelle you hear about. I am telling you this because although I still face the same struggles you do, I have come such a long way with dealing with prioritization, stress, and negativity. When it all comes down to it, this is why I started my personal brand – to show you that self improvement is possible and life can be hard, but it is all about your approach to life.
My Typical Day
Now, I know I have said that I am not a morning person, and I really mean it. My mornings do not start early. I tend to hit snooze at least three times before I wake up – and that’s okay! Not everyone is a morning person, and I have learned that I don’t need to be! It takes a while for my body to wake up and get moving in the morning, so I make sure I give myself enough time to snooze my alarm and still make it to work on time.
I genuinely get so excited for work every day – I love what I do. I think it is very important to find something that you love doing so you don’t get burnt out. If I didn’t love what I do, I wouldn’t work as hard, and I probably wouldn’t be where I am today. I look forward to working not only because I love what I do, but because I also love the work culture we’ve created. Every single person I work with is positive and excited to get to work with our team. We’re always pushing each other to do better and it really teaches me how I can be a better leader. Pro tip: You should learn as much from your team as they learn from you!
After my long work day is over (although, it is never really over), I go home and spend some quality time with my family and loved ones. This consumes the rest of my night until my family heads out, and this is when my brain really starts moving! This is what starts my nighttime routine. I typically lay out everything I need to do the next day to ensure I am prepared – this also allows me to snooze my alarm in the morning because everything is already ready to go (life hack!). Organizing my day at night helps relieve my stress and helps me unwind from the long day. I love knowing what to expect for the next day instead of waking up scrambled with a bunch on my to-do list. If you aren’t a morning person like me, try a nighttime routine, it has really been a game changer for me. Make one promise to yourself that will help you feel more organized and less stressed, I promise it will help you get through the day a little easier.
Growing Through Life
I am always trying to learn how I can be a better leader, mom, friend, partner, and an overall better person. My brain is like a sponge, I try to grow and learn in every aspect and soak up all of the information that I can. I make it a goal to try and learn at least one thing everyday, and if I do that then I consider my day a win! See, it’s such a simple goal I have for myself that makes me feel good. You can do it, too.
Everyone wants to have it all, but the truth is that’s unrealistic. Everyone has different goals, different standards, and different expectations of what makes them feel fulfilled. For me, I feel fulfilled because I am satisfied with my work life and I get to spend quality time with my loved ones every day. That’s more than enough to make me feel like I am living my best life. Remember to go with the season you’re in, prioritize what is important to YOU, and don’t feel like you have to do everything and be everywhere all at once.
