When people think about setting new goals or restarting old goals, it’s usually when they’re planning New Year’s resolutions. I’m not a resolution kind of girl, though. I’m a goal setter.

When people think about setting new goals or restarting old goals, it’s usually when they’re planning New Year’s resolutions. I’m not a resolution kind of girl, though. I’m a goal setter.

Sure, I create goals for myself every year in January. But I do at mid-year, too. Halfway through the year, I look at what I’ve accomplished so far. I ask myself if anything’s changed, and I often set new goals, too. Because why should I wait until the end of the year to make my life what I want it to be?

It’s never too late to set new goals for yourself. Here are some examples of goals you can work toward right now.

Kickstart Your Fitness Routine

Going into this year, I wanted to get back to my fitness routine. I haven’t made good on that goal for myself. I prefer to workout at the gym, and this year it’s been a challenge (thanks, COVID). I’ve chosen to stay away from the gym to protect myself and my family, and that’s made it hard to keep up with my fitness.

So, I set a goal that November is my month to restart my fitness routine. I’m fortunate to have a home gym, and I’m going to use it! My home gym has always been a backup plan for me since working out at home isn’t something I’ve been a big fan of. But I’m going to start. I set a goal for myself last month to eat better, and it’s been really good for me. Now, I’m excited to get back on the fitness wagon and start doing it again.

When it comes to restarting my fitness routine, it would be easy to push that goal off to January, as many people do. But I don’t want to wait, because it’s not too late to end this year back in the habit of working out. I’m setting this goal for myself. If you’ve been thinking about getting back to your fitness, I want you to join me this month! Let’s do this together. Send me an email at michelle@michellesukow.com and tell me about your fitness goals.

Don’t Let Your Age Get in The Way

It’s never too late to set goals for ourselves because they give us purpose and accomplishments to look forward to. Why wait to try to achieve something until you’ve reached a certain age or stage in your life? Why should you let your age keep you from going after the life you deserve?

The answer is: You shouldn’t. Do what makes you happy and satisfies you, anytime you wish. Take your job, for example. Whether you’re 20, 40, or 60, change your career if you want to. Do we need to stay in a career that doesn’t fulfill us just because we’re 60 years old? Heck no. I know I’m not going to.

Change Your Relationships

If your relationship isn’t fulfilling you, it’s never too late to set new goals for what will make YOU happy. If things aren’t working out with your partner, and you’ve tried everything you can to make it work, set a goal to end it if that’s what you need to do.

Who says you should stay in a relationship just because you’re 50 and you’ve been in that relationship for decades? Heck no to that, too! I want you to be happy and fulfilled in your life. And if a relationship isn’t making you feel that way, or if it’s making life worse for you, do what you need to do. You don’t need anyone’s permission but your own to do what’s best for you

Nothing Should Stop You

We don’t stop taking an interest in new things at a certain age. And we definitely don’t forget about the hobbies or activities we’ve thought about exploring, just because we’re getting older. It’s never too late.

Want to learn to play the piano? You can’t tell me that because I’m 50, I can’t learn to play the piano! What difference does my age make? I can learn anything new. I can set a goal at any time and make it happen for myself.

Conclusion

It doesn’t matter what time of year it is or how old you are. It’s never too late to do the things that make your heart happy and set your soul on fire. You deserve to be happy. You deserve to be fulfilled. You deserve to be challenged and motivated.

Find the courage, be strong enough, and believe in yourself. Go ahead and get after it!

Live your best life,

Michelle
